What this site records, what it does not, and what happens to anything you give us.
This site is run by Melissa Lowe's campaign for the Victorian Legislative Council. We collect as little as we can get away with, and this page says plainly what that is.
We do not sell your information, we do not trade it with other campaigns or parties, and we do not use it to advertise to you somewhere else.
We measure visits using Umami, analytics software we run ourselves on our own server. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta pixels, or any third-party tracking service.
It sets no cookies and does not identify you. It records the page visited, the referring site, and a coarse country and device type. It does not store your IP address, and it cannot follow you to any other website.
We also load tools from HubSpot, which means those companies receive data about your visit to this site.
Donations are taken on a payment page hosted by Stripe. Your card details are entered there and never reach this website. Your name and contact details are held by Stripe, and by us so far as we must to meet obligations under Victorian electoral law - donations above the disclosure threshold have to be reported to the Victorian Electoral Commission, which publishes the donor's name.
The supporters list on the donate page shows a first name and last initial only if you chose to be shown. It is off unless you pick it. We never publish a surname, an email address, a postal address, or how often somebody has given.
Our sign-up form is provided by HubSpot, and our mailing list is kept in the campaign's HubSpot account. What you type into the form goes to HubSpot and is stored there. HubSpot also sends the emails.
Because the form is loaded from HubSpot's servers, HubSpot can see your IP address and basic details about your browser on any page that shows it - the home page, the contact page and the volunteer sign-up page - whether or not you fill it in. It also sets a cookie in your browser.
Every email has an unsubscribe link and it works immediately. You can also ask us to remove you and we will.
The form sends what you typed to the campaign's inbox and nowhere else. It travels through Postmark, a delivery provider, because that is how the message gets to us.
We keep it while we are arranging the event and answering you.
Volunteering has its own HubSpot form. What you enter goes to HubSpot and is stored there, the same as a newsletter sign-up, and we see it as a volunteer offer rather than a subscription.
We keep your contact details and what you told us you can help with, so we can ask you about things you might want to do.
You can tell us to stop at any time and we will.
Our mail is Google Workspace. An email you send us is held there and read by the people running the campaign.
The district map draws its background from OpenStreetMap, which means your browser asks their servers for map images and they can see your IP address while it does. The mapping software itself is served from this site rather than from anyone else.
The suburb search next to it runs entirely in your browser against a list built into the page. Whatever you type there is never sent anywhere, including to us.
Tell us first and we will try to fix it. If we cannot, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner takes privacy complaints. OAIC - privacy complaints.

If what we do changes, this page changes in the same edit. It is generated from the site's own configuration wherever it can be, so it cannot drift into describing something we stopped doing.
